This study focuses on the sizing and cost evaluation of a photovoltaic power plant intended to supply the city of Kenge with electricity. The study employs both qualitative and quantitative approaches, including a field survey to identify the population's actual energy needs, the types of equipment used, and existing energy sources. From a technical standpoint, the photovoltaic system was sized by determining the optimal number of solar panels, batteries, and inverters needed to meet the energy demand. Monocrystalline 500 Wp panels were chosen, resulting in a total of 8,494 installed panels, combined with a storage system of 7,836 lithium batteries to provide three days of autonomy. This study also includes cable sizing, equipment compatibility verification (power, voltage, current) and optimization of panel orientation and tilt to maximize energy production. Finally, an economic analysis estimated the overall cost of the project at approximately US$8,089,576, including equipment, installation, maintenance, and contingency costs. This study demonstrates that, despite a high initial investment, the implementation of a photovoltaic power plant represents a sustainable and appropriate solution for improving access to electricity in the city of Kenge.
