Digital transformation has significantly influenced professional practices across many fields, including social work. The increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in social work research and practice has opened new opportunities for improving service delivery, decision-making and data analysis. However the integration of AI also raises several ethical concerns related to privacy, accountability, transparency and professional responsibility. This qualitative study explores the perceptions and experiences of social work professionals and researchers regarding the use of AI in social work practice and research. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with social work practitioners, academicians and postgraduate social work students. Thematic analysis was used to identify key themes related to benefits, challenges, ethical considerations and future prospects of AI integration in social work. The findings reveal that AI can enhance efficiency, improve data-driven decision making and support evidence-based practice. At the same time, participants expressed concerns regarding data confidentiality, algorithmic bias, lack of digital skills and ethical accountability. The study highlights the importance of establishing ethical guidelines, professional training and policy frameworks to ensure responsible use of AI in social work. The research concludes that while digital transformation presents significant opportunities, ethical integration is essential to maintain the values and principles of social work practice.
