Background Toilet training is one of the most important phenomena during childhood. At the age of three children must train enough to control the bowel and bladder. They should acquire to adapt not only to delight his and her loved ones additionally also to preserve self integrity. Therefore it’s a moral responsibility of the caregivers to train their child for toilet training.1The objectives of the study were to compare the post-test knowledge and practice of mothers in control group and experimental group. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted at selected Village, Doiwala Block, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. One hundred and thirty-nine participants were selected based on inclusion criteria conveniently and assigned randomly to control and experimental group. Data was collected by administering structured knowledge questionnaire and self reported practice checklist. Results: Findings suggest that the mean post test knowledge score (15.03±1.926) of experimental group was higher than the control group (12.48±2.40). The independent‘t’ test was applied to find the difference between two means. The difference was found 6.906 which was significant at the level of p<0.05. There was no difference in mean post test practice score of experimental group and control group. Conclusion: Based on the findings of the study it was concluded that home based toilet training was effective in improving the knowledge of mothers.
