Statement of problem entitled’ “ A descriptive study to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding use of emergency contraceptive pills as a method of contraception among female staff nurses of Rajindera hospital Patiala (Punjab).”Descriptive design was used for the present study. A study sample of 60 staff nurses….. Data was collected by Self-Structured open-ended questionnaire used to assess the knowledge of staff nurses regarding use of emergency contraceptive pills as a method of contraception. The data was analyzed in the terms of frequency, percentage distribution, mean, standard deviation.Material and method. A Descriptive research design was used for the present study. A study sample of 60 staff nurses were selected by convenience sampling technique. The data was collected by knowledge structured questionnaires regarding use of emergency contraceptive pills as a method of contraception.. The data was analyzed in terms of objectives of the study using descriptive and inferential statistics in terms of frequency, percentage distribution, mean, Standard deviation, t- value, and chi-square. Results: The study findings reveals that the Mean±SD of post-test knowledge score of teachers (32.5±1.69) was higher than the Mean±SD of pre-test knowledge score of selected teachers (10.18±6.).The computed paired t- value of 25.607 was found statistically significant. The t-value showed that there was statistically significant difference between mean pre-test and post-test knowledge scores regarding prevention of osteoporosis knowledge among selected teachers. Chi Square values have shown that there was no significant association of variables i.e age, gender, source of information, residence, qualification, income per month, type of family and previous experience.Conclusion: It was concluded from the findings of the study there was no significance of demographic variable with knowledge regarding prevention of osteoporosis. The knowledge of selected teachers was improved. It was helpful for the nursing students or nursing staff to improve their knowledge level.
